Does Godly Wisdom=Health Freedom?

Learning about Godly wisdom from chickens! It’s funny how animals can make us think a little deeper. Think about things like does Godly wisdom equal health freedom? What is wisdom? What is health freedom? Watching my chickens free range in the back yard brings me a sense of calm. This is why sometimes when my day is a bit stressful, I will bundle up and go outside to spend a few minutes with them. Talking to them. Watching them. Giving them treats or kitchen scraps. I don’t spend long with them, maybe 10 minutes or so but it is enough to bring a sense of calm to my soul especially when I am having “one of those days”. Does that sound crazy? Yeah, I know. My sister teases me that I am a crazy chicken lady now! But this weekend, when they were out in the sunshine, free ranging in the yard, scratching, pecking and doing what chickens do, all of a sudden, the wind really picked up and a big gust came. (We have had a LOT of wind lately.) What did those girls do? They made a beeline right for me. Why? Because to them, I represent safety. Yes, food, treats, freedom…but also safety. They always run right to my husband or me when they feeling scared or startled. Jesus=Wisdom & Wisdom=Freedom This got me thinking…. Maybe because I had just heard 2 amazing sermons about trusting in the Lord even in the midst of all the crazy going on in this world… Jesus is our steady rock. Jesus is our constant. Jesus is our safety. Do WE run to Jesus at the FIRST sign of trouble? Do WE turn to Him immediately when we are scared or startled or rattled? I really tried to focus on Matthew 6:33 consistently last year. It was the verse that really spoke to me in 2023 and I shared it with you often. (But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all other things will be provided for you.) Sometimes that means we have to get quiet. Put down our devices and the things that easily distract us (ensnare us) and be still. Alone with our thoughts. Alone with Jesus. Alone with our feelings. Alone with the King who understands. Alone with our Shepherd. And sometimes that means we wait. With the waiting comes wisdom. Really? Yes. Really. Maybe at this point in your life and career you are done with the hustle and bustle. You are done with the striving and surviving. You are done with the exhausting rat race of working so hard and so much. You are done with the HURRY of it all. That only brings you stress, worry and exhaustion. Sleepless nights. Anxiety. Endless tiredness. I GET IT. And I’ve been there too. NONE of it helps us. It’s important that we address all 3 levels of health for optimal living. Really for freedom in our whole health. Doesn’t that sound good? Freedom? So how does Godly WISDOM give us FREEDOM?  And how does RESTING and WAITING give us WISDOM?  Listen in to today’s episode on wisdom in resting and waiting. I pray this encourages and blesses you today!XO, Michelle

Reducing Toxic Inflammation: How the SHAPE Program Works

The SHAPE Program is a health transformation plan that is customized to meet your goals. To begin, reach out to me by clicking the link on my Services page to set up a call so we can have a meaningful conversation about your health challenges and long-term goals. When you are ready to get started, we will have an extended session to review your goals, go over a baseline  urinalysis, review your  SHAPE Drops and the SHAPE Program Guidebook. The SHAPE Program is organized into three phases: Phase I: Cleanse The purpose of Phase I is to cleanse   your body of toxins. During this phase, your brain chemistry will begin to balance, inflammation will decrease, and your immune system will begin to strengthen. If weight reduction is one of your goals, Phase I can also cleanse your body of excess weight. You will follow the SHAPE Nutrition Protocol, take the SHAPE Drops three times daily and meet regularly with me during Phase I. Phase I is a minimum of three weeks, but I do recommend staying in Phase I until you reach your health goals. Phase II: Stabilize The purpose of this phase is to stabilize your brain chemistry and metabolism. If you lost weight in Phase I, this phase is important for maintaining your new weight. You will stop taking the SHAPE Drops, begin reincorporating new foods and continue to meet with me during Phase II.  Phase II is exactly three weeks. Phase III: Live The purpose of Phase III is to use the knowledge you gained in the previous two phases to maintain a healthy lifestyle. You can start taking the SHAPE Drops again as a daily supplement to maintain optimal health. Phase III is making SHAPE a part of your everyday life. Ready to get YOUR transformation started? Read on for a recent testimonial for encouragement: Hi, my name is Tia, I am a 62-year-old woman who was desperate to get control of my cholesterol, without meds, and improve my overall health. In beginning this journey with the SHAPE ReClaimed Program and Michelle McCoy, my practitioner, I wasn’t sure what to expect but was hopeful to discover what was in store for me.   Not knowing how my life was going to change I followed the program and discovered ALL things ARE possible. In just a few short months I began to see overall energy, I was sleeping through the night, the inflammation in my body almost gone, and my cholesterol had dropped significantly.  Also, by the grace of God, the SHAPE program, and the coaching of Michelle, I am now completely off the anxiety meds I was taking. Through this time of focusing on mind, body, soul, and spirit I have a deeper relationship with God and a healthy eating lifestyle change that I will forever be grateful for. I truly hope you know that we are a gift from God and the best is yet to come because “You are a beautiful treasure.”  I borrowed that phrase from Michelle. What do you have to lose? Begin your own personal journey today! In great health, Michelle www.michelle@treasuredwellness.com

Is “Spring Forward” Wreaking Havoc on Your Health?

Are you dreading the time change coming up Sunday?  It isn’t as fun as “Fall Back” is it? Nope, we LOSE an hour of much needed sleep!  How does this affect our health? Let me share 3 ways Spring Forward can negatively affect your health. 1. Irritability, low mood. When you are deprived of sleep, it can result in crankiness, depression, and that “blue” feeling. If you struggle with SAD (seasonal affective disorder) than this can be even stronger for you.  Most likely you have spent the winter indoors and were not getting enough sunshine. Maybe you leave for work in the dark and drive home in the dark. I know how this impacted my mood for years while I had some similar wonky hours where this was the case for me.  2. Sleepiness.  It may be a no brainer but losing an hour adds up over the course of a week right? So if you are doing your same routine, then that loss of time can keep you in a state of fatigue. Just going through your day doing the best you can. Maintaining. It adds up over time. 3. Increased risk of stroke and heart attacks.  Heart attacks are more prevalent with the spring forward time change but strokes were 8% higher in the first few days for both time changes.  Sleep is so vital for our overall health! So how can you make this transition a little easier on yourself?  Go to bed 10-15 minutes later each night leading up to the time change to help your body adjust. Get out in the sunshine even if only for 15 minutes on your lunch break. Cut out that 2nd (or 3rd) cup of coffee. Especially avoid caffeine in the afternoon when you have a little slump. Reach for green tea (less caffeine) or peppermint herbal tea for a natural boost. (hint, getting that quick walk at lunch helps the afternoon slump beautifully!) Once the clock officially changes on Sunday, maintain a regular bedtime routine going forward. Make this a priority. Going to bed and waking at the same times helps your body’s circadian rhythm. Sleep is one of the many topics we address and get clarity over in my Autoimmunity & Lifestyle Restoration Program.    I don’t say this lightly – this program is THE most comprehensive Lifestyle Restoration program in the market! Get in now and receive Lifetime access to ALL the modules and tools! If you want in, message me: michelle@treasuredwellness.com & I will message you with the next steps!   In great health, Michelle

Ditch the Afternoon Caffeine!

Stop doing that! No, seriously. Stop. It is wreaking havoc on your (more than likely) already taxed adrenals. 🥱 I fell into this trap SO MANY TIMES. Did an afternoon cup of coffee help me to get through the rest of the busy day? Yes and No. Yes because I enjoyed it. No because I quickly regretted it. My body was giving me all sorts of signs that it didn’t really appreciate the jolt of caffeine on an already stressed body. 🔸Fatigue 🔸Histamine reactions 🔸Headache 🔸Heart Palpitations 🔸Increased anxiousness Finally it started screaming at me until I GOT IT.👏 (slow learner, ha!) Do yourself a favor and ditch the afternoon caffeine. Reach for a green tea for a smidge of natural caffeine and see how that makes you feel.Or one of my favorites is Peppermint tea for a naturally caffeine free energy lift.Give it a try. But give it several days to begin creating a healthy habit. You adrenals will thank you!❤ Are you guilty of this? ✋🙋‍♀️ No worries. 🧐 If you would like to learn the 3 crucial things to regain your energy in a NATURAL way, message me and I will happily send you my FREE Foggy & Fatigued Blueprint! ❤ #healthandwellnessjourney #healthymindhealthybody #autoimmunewarrior #holistichealth #inflammationreduction #treasuredwellness #bioindividuality #SHAPEReClaimed #autoimmunity #healthylifestylechange #adrenalfatigue #healthylifestylecoach #healthylifestyletips #adrenalfatigue #functionalhealthcoach #holistichealthcoach

What is Inflammation?

You may know that the SHAPE ReClaimed Program helps reduce inflammation. But what exactly is inflammation? Inflammation is the body’s healthy response to injury or acute infection. If you break your arm, you want your body to send all of its efforts to that area so it can heal. With an infection, like food poisoning, your body creates inflammation to get that poison out as quickly as possible so that it doesn’t cause serious damage. This is why you have an inflammatory response! It can keep you alive and accelerate healing in certain situations. Inflammation becomes a problem when it doesn’t go away after a threat subsides or shows up when there’s no real threat at all. This is considered chronic inflammation, and it is one of the main underlying causes of many common symptoms and conditions. If you experience any of these, you are dealing with chronic inflammation: Acne Anxiety Asthma Chest pain Cough Depression Diabetes Eczema/Psoriasis Environmental allergies Fibromyalgia Food allergies Headaches Heart disease Hot flashes Irritable bowel syndrome Joint pain or stiffness  PMS    Sinus problems Weight gain Chronic inflammation can have many causes: surgery, injury, aging, immune deficiency, long-term physical or emotional stress, to name a few. But a diet containing sugar-laden and processed foods is one of THE biggest culprits of chronic inflammation. Here is a list of common inflammatory foods: Artificial colors (in candy, juice, powdered drink mixes, etc.) Artificial preservatives Artificial sweeteners Deep-fried foods (fried chicken, French fries, donuts) Excess alcohol (beer and wine, but especially hard liquor) Excess caffeine (energy drinks, coffee, tea) Hydrogenated oils (margarine, pre-packaged baked goods) Monosodium glutamate, or MSG (in salty junk food like flavored chips) Processed meat (bologna, deli meat made with nitrates/nitrites) Sugar If you have food sensitivities or allergies, add those foods to the above list. For example, if you have Celiac disease, anything containing gluten would be inflammatory. Common allergenic foods include: Baker’s yeast (not nutritional yeast) Beans/Legumes Corn Dairy Eggs Fish, shellfish Gluten – wheat, rye, barley and some oats Nightshade vegetables – eggplant, peppers, potatoes and tomatoes Nuts Soy The SHAPE Program eliminates inflammatory foods and offers you an opportunity to discover food sensitivities and allergies. In Phase I of the program, your body gets a chance to cleanse toxins (and excess weight, if that is one of your goals) and significantly reduce chronic inflammation. Then, in Phase II, you slowly add back foods you eliminated in Phase I. While in Phase II, be sure to pay attention and make note of any inflammatory reactions. Inflammatory reactions can include: Brain fog Congestion Digestive issues Fatigue Headaches Joint pain Mood swings Skin rashes Weight gain Then, in Phase III, you can slowly re-introduce carbohydrates such as beans, grains, root vegetables and even some sweets (to the extent you feel comfortable – some choose not to re-introduce sweet foods at all). Because your body is cleansed and no longer inflamed, you will be able to get an accurate assessment of the foods that work for you and those that do not. You may find that some of your favorite foods were the ones that contributed to the symptoms you were experiencing before beginning your SHAPE Program journey. The SHAPE Program is designed to restore and transform total health. It is successful for so many people because it gets to the root cause of so many common health problems, namely inflammation. Reach out to me for more information on reducing the inflammation in your body by utilizing the SHAPE Program!

Do You Do This?

I hear this a lot… “I am a Celiac. I am a Diabetic. I am Hypothyroid.” Fill in your particular struggle with Autoimmunity. I am pretty sure I have even said it a few times myself in my journey with Autoimmune Disease. But I encourage us and challenge us to look at our situation a bit differently now. See, with lifestyle changes, much can be addressed, that’s true. We can even recover much of our health struggles with food and with healthier lifestyle changes. But what about looking deeper within? To the beautiful woman God created? To the Spirit residing in your temple? You are not your disease. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. “For freedom Christ set us free. So stand firm then and don’t submit again to a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1 Do not allow the enemy to steal what is yours. Stand tall. Stand strong. Speak LIFE to yourself. Remember who you are in Christ. #SHAPEReClaimed#holistichealthcoach#healthylifestylechange#functionalhealthcoach#healthylifestylecoach#holistichealth#LetGodLead#autoimmunity

SUGAR’S IDENTITY CRISIS:

72 Names for Sugar Sugar. Would a food by any other name taste as sweet? As it turns out, the answer to that question is yes, and our food industry is literally banking on consumers’ growing appetites for sugar and sweeteners. Take a look at these statistics: The Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology journal reported that 74% of products in the U.S. food supply contain added caloric or low-calorie sweeteners, or both. The USDA reported that the average American consumed 40.5 lbs. of refined cane and beet sugar, 24 lbs. of high-fructose corn syrup and 9.9 lbs. of other sweeteners, such as honey, agave syrup and molasses — all different names for sugar — in 2016. That’s a total of 74.4 lbs. of sugar per person per year. A 13-year study on artificial sweeteners by the George Washington University Milken Institute’s School of Public Health showed that consumption increased 200% during that time period. It also reported a direct correlation between obesity and frequent use of artificial sweeteners. A study published by the open-access medical journal BMJ Openfound that nearly 60% of an average American’s daily calories come from ‘ultra-processed’ foods – products that contain flavors, colors, sweeteners and other additives that you wouldn’t use at home. These products are the main source of added sugar in the U.S. diet. They also reported that Americans get less than 1% of their daily calories from vegetables. Is it any wonder that we have a health crisis in this country? We’re killing ourselves with sugar and artificial sweeteners instead of eating real, wholesome, nutrient-dense, anti-inflammatory food. And often, we don’t even realize it; sugar and sweeteners are hidden in everyday foods under a variety of different names for sugar, making it easy to eat sugar without even knowing it’s there. The SHAPE Program is designed to eliminate added sugars and artificial sweeteners from your diet so that you can improve your health. Why? Because sugar consumption is linked with obesity, heart disease, diabetes, cancer and a host of other health disorders. Artificial sweeteners like aspartame, saccharine and sucralose have also been proven to create toxicity in our bodies. So, what can you do to avoid added sugars and sweeteners? Choose to eat the fresh, healthy foods as outlined in the SHAPE Program, and learn how to cook meals that don’t require cans and boxes of ingredients. By avoiding processed foods, you’ll eliminate a major source of hidden sugars. But if you do choose to purchase gently processed foods like yogurt, canned vegetables, broth, salad dressings, crackers, seasoning blends and other ingredients, be sure to read the labels carefully. A new FDA nutrition facts label went into effect in January 2020. This label identifies added sugars. Even still, be vigilant. Sugar and sweeteners often hide behind healthy-sounding names. Don’t be fooled – sugar is sugar and artificial is artificial, no matter what manufacturers call it. 72 Names for Sugar How can you avoid added sugar? Start by learning these 72 different names for sugar. If you see any of these items listed in the ingredients on a packaged food, put that food back on the shelf and walk away. Anything labeled with an asterisk (*) is a natural sweetener, but still not approved during Phases I and II of the SHAPE Program. Agave nectar* Corn syrup Grape sugar Panela Barbados sugar Corn syrup solids High-fructose corn syrup Panocha Barley malt* Crystalline fructose Honey* Powdered sugar Barley malt syrup Date sugar* Honey crystals Raisin juice concentrate Beet sugar Dehydrated cane juice Icing sugar Raw sugar* Brown rice syrup* Demarara sugar Invert sugar Refiner’s syrup Brown sugar Dextrin Lactose Rice syrup Buttered syrup Dextrose Liquid fructose Saccharose Cane juice Evaporated cane juice Malt syrup Sorghum syrup* Cane juice crystals Florida crystals Maltodextrin Sucanat* Cane sugar Free-flowing brown sugars Maltol Sucrose Caramel Fructose Maltose Sugar (granulated) Carob syrup Fruit juice Mannose Sweet sorghum syrup Castor sugar Fruit juice concentrate Maple crystals Syrup Coconut palm sugar Glucose Maple syrup* Treacle Coconut sugar* Glucose solids Molasses* Turbinado* Confectioner’s sugar Golden sugar Muscovado Yacon nectar* Corn sweetener Golden syrup Palm sugar Yellow sugar A Word About High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) While this sweetener is losing its popularity in the food industry, its origin is a great example of how the food industry works. In the 1960s, a perfect storm of sugar tariffs, scientific research and government subsidies to corn farmers lead to the development of HFCS. Scientists discovered that treating corn syrup with an enzyme called glucose isomerase, some of the glucose converted to fructose, making the corn syrup sweeter. Because corn was so cheap, thanks to the subsidies, manufacturers could create this new sweetener at a fraction of the cost that it took to buy or refine sucrose, or regular table sugar. It wasn’t long before the food industry began replacing sucrose with HFCS. Besides being a cheaper alternative to sugar, HFCS dissolved more quickly and foods made with it didn’t spoil as easily and were softer and chewier than foods made with regular sugar. Those attributes make HFCS great for food manufacturers, but terrible for consumers. HFCS severely disrupts blood sugar levels, is highly addictive and, because it’s man-made, is definitely toxic. Sugar Alcohols While sugar alcohols aren’t technically sugar, they do require some explanation. Most sugar alcohols occur naturally in fruits and vegetables but can be refined for use in food products. They typically have names that end in “-ol,” such as sorbitol, maltitol, mannitol, lactitol, erythritol and xylitol. Sugar alcohols contain about 1/3 the calories of sucrose, but they often taste just as sweet. They aren’t fully absorbed or digested, so they have less of an effect on blood sugar than sucrose, but because of this, they can cause digestive upset. Sugar alcohols affect people differently, but gas, cramping, bloating and diarrhea are the most common complaints, especially when large amounts of sugar alcohols are consumed in a short period of time. Current research shows that xylitol is the safest of the sugar alcohols, so it is the only approved sugar alcohol for the SHAPE Program. Always use it in moderation
